Your new farm comes with a cow, a bird, and a backpack roughly the size of a lunchbox. Outside the fence, wolves are clocking in for the night shift. Welcome to Teradea. This Harvest Moon Echoes of Teradea walkthrough takes you from the scripted first three days in Bloomfield Village to a full lap of the map. You get the exact route through all four towns, the Chapter 2 items that stump almost everyone (yes, the pumpkin), and the systems quietly running the whole game: Happilia, Power Statues, mounts and romance. I've spent most of my evenings since launch getting lost on this continent so you don't have to. Pocket a mushroom. We're heading south.

⚡ Quick Answer

To beat Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea efficiently, finish the scripted Bloomfield quests, tame a free horse south of the village, and take the bag upgrade quest at the general store. Then leave through Bloomfield's south exit and loop clockwise: Tidewind, the Desert, Maplehill, Quarrytop. Clear Chapter 1 in every town before chasing later chapters.

What Is Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea?

Echoes of Teradea is Natsume's newest farming sim, built with developer IMAGICA GEEQ. It launched on October 15, 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2, Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, about three weeks after its original September date. It's also the first Harvest Moon on Switch 2. The big change is scale. Instead of one cozy valley, you get a continent split into four villages. Each village has its own disaster and its own Guardian Spirit, and all of it ties back to a mist pouring out of the Forest of Echoes.

You still farm, raise animals and court villagers. Now you also jump, climb ladders, scale vines, ride animals with special abilities and get chased by bears. It's Harvest Moon with cardio. The series has passed 30 games since its North American debut in 1997, and this is easily the most ambitious map it has ever had.

How Do You Start Echoes of Teradea? Your First Days in Bloomfield

The game holds your hand for about three days, then lets go all at once. Use the hand holding. These five steps make the rest of the game far more comfortable.

  1. Play the opening straight: Days one to three are scripted, with cutscenes, a tutorial and small Bloomfield quests like gathering lumber or crafting an item. Finish every one. They unlock the systems you'll lean on later.
  2. Tame a free horse: Walk south of Bloomfield past the lake, where three horses graze. Crouch, approach slowly, then pet and feed one. Return the next day, repeat, and it's yours. Running costs stamina. Riding costs nothing.
  3. Take the bag upgrade quest: Grab it from the Bloomfield general store the moment it appears. It triples your inventory from two rows to six. It asks for wool, so buy a lamb early. A second bag upgrade comes later.
  4. Feed animals real food: Turning weeds into feed takes twenty weeds per portion. Handing an animal any edible item, even a mushroom, counts as feeding it.
  5. Start the Power Statue chain: The first chain restores some of the Harvest Goddess's power and unlocks map reveals plus teleporting between statues you've tagged.

💡 Pro Tip: Always keep one food item in your bag. Dropping it distracts a charging wolf, bear or tiger. Getting caught costs every item you were carrying and sends you waking up back on your farm.

Harvest Moon Echoes of Teradea Walkthrough Route: Which Way Around the Map?

The most common early mistake is thinking you have to clear the mist next to the forest before you can leave Bloomfield. You don't. There's an exit on the south side, and every town is reachable from it. Grab mushrooms on the way out, then circle the map clockwise. Treat that first lap as a scouting run, not a quest run.

Stop 1: Tidewind, the Summer Port

Head southwest. Tidewind lives in permanent summer and is battling storms that keep getting worse. It has a fishing score minigame that resets on a timer, the Lantern Festival, and the docks. Later, repairing the boat and reinforcing the dock opens the remote islands, which you reach with nautical charts. Buy Tidewind clothing too, because it protects you from heat.

Stop 2: The Desert Crossing

From Tidewind's north beach, you can walk across the water into the Desert, then cross it heading north. Make a mental note of the southwest corner. A passage there only opens once you have a camel, and it's worth coming back for.

Stop 3: Maplehill, the Autumn Town

Maplehill is the largest town, and its crisis is a quiet one: its culture and community are fading. Jimmy's shop sits right at the entrance, and its Craft menu sells home, farm, barn and storage upgrades. If you've been sitting on a pile of gold with no idea what to spend it on, this is where it goes. Elena, the archaeologist, also lives here and helps with treasure hunting.

Stop 4: Quarrytop, the Winter Mine

The snowy mining village is being rattled by earthquakes. Its mine runs on union rules, and a villager will happily lecture you about them. Quarrytop clothing blocks the cold. Finishing Quarrytop's Chapter 1 also makes its general store sell pumpkin seeds, which matters a lot in a minute.

Village Theme Crisis Why You Go
Bloomfield Spring Wolves at night Main story, free horses, bag upgrade
Tidewind Summer Worsening storms Fishing, docks, remote islands
Maplehill Autumn Fading community Home and farm upgrades, moonstone
Quarrytop Winter Earthquakes Mining, pumpkin seeds

Here's the golden rule: clear Chapter 1 in every town before pushing any single town further. Early quest items usually sit close to their own town, while later chapters ask for things from the opposite side of the continent.

Harvest Moon Echoes of Teradea Walkthrough: Chapter 2 Roadblocks

Where to Find Pumpkins

Right after Bloomfield's Chapter 1, a quest asks you to deliver a pumpkin. The catch is that pumpkins don't appear until Quarrytop, the last stop on the clockwise loop. A Quarrytop villager may hand out pumpkin seeds as a quest reward. If you don't get that quest, finish Quarrytop's Chapter 1 and the general store adds pumpkin seeds to its stock. Plant, harvest, deliver, done.

Where to Find Moonstone

Go to the university in Maplehill:

  1. Climb: Take the winding path to the right of the entrance.
  2. Cross: Go through the gate on your left and cross the bridge.
  3. Enter: Head into the Garden of Wisdom.
  4. Descend: Follow the west wall to a small ramp that leads down into a dungeon with moonstone.

There's a backup spot too. A dungeon in the Desert's southwest corner, reachable only with a camel, is packed with precious ore.

⚠️ Important: If a quest item seems impossible to find, stop grinding the same patch of map. In Echoes of Teradea, that almost always means the item lives in a town you haven't fully explored yet.

💡 Pro Tip: Once you've found one of anything, the Item Search option on the map can mark more of it. That works for seeds, plants, fish, animals and ore.

How Do Happilia and Power Statues Work?

Happilia is the game's restoration currency. You earn it by finishing villager requests, helping each town develop, and tackling its local crisis. The more you collect, the more the Harvest Goddess can revive the land. You can't farm it in a loop, because it only comes from doing things that matter to a town. The bonus is that those same requests build friendship, so a Happilia run and a romance run are the same run.

Power Statues are your upgrade engine. Clear a statue's short challenge, free the Power Wisps inside, collect Power Wisp Fruits, and trade them at the Forest Goddess Statue for stamina and abilities. Three power nuts buy a skill upgrade, and one later skill lets you run without spending stamina at all. Statues come in four types:

  • Map and travel statues reveal map sections and register warp points.
  • Instant reward statues hand over a power nut the moment you touch them.
  • Photo statues want a picture of a subject marked with a special symbol.
  • Shy statues flee if you rush them, so you'll be back tomorrow. Approach every statue slowly.

Echoes of Teradea Farming Guide: Which Crops and Plots Pay Best?

  • Water every day. Most crops take three to six days, and a forgotten one can wither first.
  • Ship instead of selling. The shipping box pays 10% more than shops for every crop.
  • Use town plots. Each town offers a plot that keeps its local climate, so Tidewind grows summer crops and Quarrytop grows winter crops all year. Fence plots against storms, and water by hand until you unlock sprinklers.
  • Plant grass. Grass seeds need no water and regrow for two or three harvests. A forest sprite on your farm gives three free seeds every third day.
  • Fence livestock away from crops. Hungry animals will happily eat your harvest.

My take: treat the town plots as a mutation lab. A crop grown in another region's soil can mutate into a rarer variant that ships for more. Once you've harvested a variant, the Traveling Merchant at campsites starts selling its seeds. So instead of filling your home field with one crop, split a single batch across Bloomfield, Tidewind and Quarrytop. You're rolling for mutations in three soils at once, and every variant you hit permanently unlocks a better seed. It's slot machine farming, except the house is a merchant with a backpack sitting by a campfire.

How Do Mounts and Wild Animals Work in Echoes of Teradea?

Tamed animals are tools, not decorations. Some smash rocks and fallen trees, some jump, and some cross terrain others can't. Open the book in your barn, pick a rideable animal and assign it to your whistle. You get four slots. A strong travel loadout is a camel for the Desert, a fast horse, a jumping horse and a reindeer. Out of slots? Board one at the animal shelter, and it earns skill points while it waits.

In my experience, the wilderness punishes greed far more than it punishes bad reflexes. In my first week, I packed every slot of my freshly upgraded bag with cave ore and decided I was too cool to carry snacks. Then I rode home after dark. A wolf disagreed with my life choices. I woke up on my farm with an empty bag and a deep personal grudge. These days I never leave without a mushroom to throw, and I warp home before nightfall like a responsible adult.

Echoes of Teradea Romance Candidates: Who Can You Marry?

There are ten candidates, five bachelors and five bachelorettes, and courting isn't gender locked. Your protagonist pick matters. Choose the boy and Carol becomes a candidate. Choose the girl and Robert does. That leaves nine options per playthrough. Nine candidates have been named so far, and one bachelor is still a mystery.

Village Bachelorettes Bachelors
Bloomfield Jane, Carol Robert
Tidewind Mara Aaron
Quarrytop Laurelai Hank
Maplehill Shirley Bryce

Marriage opens after you finish the main story, and you can have one child. Check what someone likes before you hand over a gift. A disliked gift earns nothing and still uses up that day's gift.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you leave Bloomfield Village in Echoes of Teradea?

You don't need to clear the mist beside the Forest of Echoes. Bloomfield has an exit on its south side, and every major town is reachable from there. Collect mushrooms as you leave, then travel clockwise: southwest to Tidewind, across the water to the Desert, north to Maplehill, and finally Quarrytop.

Where do you get pumpkins in Echoes of Teradea?

Pumpkins come from Quarrytop, the snowy mining village and usually the last town you reach. A Quarrytop villager may give pumpkin seeds as a quest reward. If you miss that, finish Quarrytop's Chapter 1 and its general store starts selling pumpkin seeds. Plant them, harvest, and deliver to clear the Bloomfield quest.

Where is moonstone in Echoes of Teradea?

Check under Maplehill's university. Take the winding path right of the entrance, go through the left gate, cross the bridge and enter the Garden of Wisdom. A small ramp along the west wall leads to a dungeon with moonstone. A second dungeon sits in the Desert's southwest corner, reachable only with a camel.

How many romance candidates are in Echoes of Teradea?

There are ten: five bachelors and five bachelorettes across all four villages, and you can court anyone regardless of your character's gender. Carol or Robert becomes available depending on which protagonist you skip, so each playthrough offers nine options. Marriage unlocks after the main story, and you can have one child.

How do you get a horse in Echoes of Teradea?

Walk south of Bloomfield Village past the lake, where three wild horses graze. Crouch, walk up slowly, then pet and feed one. Come back the next day, repeat, and tame it for free. A horse saves stamina, outruns wild animals and makes the early game far less exhausting.

Is Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea multiplayer?

No. Echoes of Teradea is a single player game on every platform. The PC version is built around controllers, with full controller support and no dedicated keyboard and mouse scheme, so plugging in a gamepad is the smoothest way to play on Steam. Progress, romance and farming are all solo.

Final Thoughts: Is Echoes of Teradea Worth the Trip?

Echoes of Teradea isn't the most polished Harvest Moon, and at least one review flagged rough performance on Switch 2. Still, its open map and companion system give the series a sense of adventure it has rarely had. Follow the order in this guide: rails, horse, bag, south exit, clockwise loop, then Chapter 1 everywhere. Do that, and the game shifts from confusing to genuinely relaxing. You can grab it on Steam for $49.99, and the free Mooberry Cow Pack bonus runs until November 11, 2026. Now go throw a mushroom at a wolf.
