Mystery Detective Adventure 2 has exactly one personality trait: it loves hiding a key inside a box that needs a different key. If you are staring at a locked music box at 2 a.m., this Mystery Detective Adventure 2 walkthrough is your way out. I played all three cases (Faithfulness, Curse and Victim) and mapped the item chains, every code I could pin down, and the totals for all 48 morphing objects and 48 collection items. You get a chapter by chapter route, a single cheat sheet of puzzle answers, and a heads up on the spots where most players lose an hour. Grab the trench coat. Detective Woodbrey's tweezers are about to do some heavy lifting.

⚡ Quick Answer

Mystery Detective Adventure 2 has three chapters: Faithfulness (find Penelope Mortimer in a snowy seaside town), Curse (track missing collector Noel Sheppley) and Victim (save a kidnapped loved one from a village's dark rituals). Each chapter hides 15 to 18 morphing objects and two collection sets. Key codes include 524, 371, 27295, 2947 and 14253.

What Is Mystery Detective Adventure 2 and Where Can You Play It?

Mystery Detective Adventure 2 is a hidden object puzzle adventure from FIVE-BN GAMES and the sequel to the 2024 original. You play John Woodbrey, a detective who flopped on his last case after getting too deep into the paranormal. Now the paranormal keeps knocking on his door anyway. The mobile version launched free to play on Android and iOS on June 30, 2026. The PC version followed on Steam as a Collector's Edition on July 16, 2026, with a free demo.

The developer's own pitch sums up Woodbrey's new reputation as an occult specialist with a wink:

"Whether that is good or bad is for you to decide!"

📊 Key Stat: On Steam, 84% of the game's first 13 user reviews are positive. The Collector's Edition costs $9.99 and supports 18 interface languages, with full English voice acting.

One honest note before you buy: the store page discloses that AI was used to translate some languages and to generate some graphical assets. If that matters to you, the demo is the cheapest way to judge the art for yourself.

How Does Mystery Detective Adventure 2 Gameplay Work?

Every chapter runs on the same loop. You explore hand drawn scenes, fill evidence files, combine inventory items and crack lock puzzles. Three systems sit on top of that loop:

  • Evidence files: numbered clues such as "testimony 4/8" that push the story forward. You can't finish a chapter without them.
  • Morphing objects: props that quietly change shape while you look at a scene. Tap them to log them.
  • Collection items: two themed sets per chapter, such as stamps, perfume bottles or wooden horses.

When I first played Chapter 2, I spent a solid twenty minutes typing random codes into the bedroom typewriter. Then I realized the powder from the butterfly box was the answer, not decoration. Lesson learned: in this game, nothing is decoration. Except the decorations that turn into different decorations when you look away. Those are morphing objects, and they're worth points.

One pattern saved me hours. The hint for a puzzle almost always lives in the same chapter, and usually within two rooms of the lock. Look for a drawing behind a desk, a smudged glass or a scrap of paper that needs an eraser. Once I started treating every odd wall doodle as a future answer key, the stuck moments dropped sharply.

💡 Pro Tip: The knife, the tweezers and the umbrella (Chapter 1) or cane (Chapter 2) are your forever tools. If something is out of reach, stuck in a grate or tied shut, one of these three opens it.

If you'd rather watch the whole thing, this full 4K run covers all three chapters without commentary:

Mystery Detective Adventure 2 Walkthrough: Chapter 1 Faithfulness

Woodbrey is sulking in a snowy seaside resort when Marjorie Mortimer asks him to find out why her daughter Penelope keeps disappearing. It looks like an easy case. It is not.

  1. Hotel room starter kit: Search the jacket for a small key and a star. Place the star on the globe to get a tagged key and a safe code. The small key opens the luggage (umbrella) and the code opens the safe (knife). Unlock the door and slide off the chain.
  2. The Mortimer house: Cut the tent outside for the bulletin board key and your first flower. Inside, pry the wooden tulip off the door, fit it into the painting above the fireplace, and take the key to Penelope's room. Log the rope, the steps outside the window and the green dress.
  3. Buy the flowers: The old flower seller wants cash, so grab the bill from the wallet in your hotel safe. Give the bouquet to the girls on the beach for the sisters' testimony.
  4. Piano puzzle: Two figurines open the box on the table (awl), and the awl opens Penelope's purse (sheet music). Play Hat, Sun, Note, Witch Hat, Sun, Butterfly, Butterfly, Fish, Egg, Egg, Fish, Witch Hat, Note, Hat.
  5. Stars, feathers and code 524: Two feathers fix the hotel mosaic for the second star, and two stars open the green luggage in the lobby for a flask. Unscrew the telescope lens outside, hold it over Penelope's drawing, and read 524. That code opens the dial box in the maintenance room.
  6. Ride to the fishing shack: Put the hint plate on the beach mechanical room door. Saw the chain off the metal ball, install it, open the red valve, attach both handles to the green cabin and ride over. Penelope is waiting.
  7. Mystic house: Three lighthouses on the shack's red box earn a lockpick for the alley door. Inside, gather three token parts and solve the book puzzle.
  8. Seven medallions: Shovel the snow at the alley gate and open it with Walker's figurine. Sweep the woods for seven medallions: a tree hole, under a bench cloth, under snow by a rock and under branches across the lake. Fix the bridge with the hook and open the scientist's gate.
  9. Castle, lab and dive: Four pistols on the living room wall give you a valve and a handle. The diving suit then takes you into the sea cave for matches to light your lamp.
  10. The ritual: Return 15 books to the mystic in the attic and gather the ritual items. Weigh 10 grams of coffee beans using the 5, 3 and 2 weights. Brew the potion, give it to Penelope, and beat the final puzzle to free Frances.

Chapter 2 Curse Walkthrough: Where Did Noel Sheppley Go?

Edith brings Woodbrey a case about her father Noel, a factory owner and artifact collector who vanished in a way that screams "mummy's curse." Your job is to decide whether to chase a ghost or a kidnapper.

  1. Figurines gate: Find three figurines: one at the fountain, one behind the blue door at Green Park Square 4, and one knocked off the clock post with the cane. Tapping a token flips it and its neighbors, so turn the whole board to stars.
  2. Factory entry: Take the shed key from the factory gate post and open the shed. Knife open the canned food inside and feed it to the guard dog. Build the wire cutters with the screw, cut the electric box and flip the left switch. The manager hands over the airship key. Study the drawing behind him, because it solves the locker puzzle later.
  3. Office code 371: Rub the eraser over the blank paper in the main office to reveal 371 for the corner shelf. Collect the four register keys hidden around the desk.
  4. Park gate: The cross opens the lion statue (flower), and two flowers open the small building (gloves). Brush the statue to reveal the gate hint, then place the three leaves.
  5. The labyrinth: Use the gloves on the rose bush for grapes, then open the maze with three grapes. The path is Right, Straight, Left, Straight, Left, Right, Straight. The butler, John, waits at the fountain.
  6. Inside the mansion: Six small windows complete the model house on the stairs, and four small pyramids open the artifacts room. Set the clock in John's room to VII:III, then put the katana in the samurai's hands.
  7. Safe trifecta: Put the stethoscope on the artifacts safe and enter 27295. The magnifying glass on the office map reveals UBLIMP for the office safe. Powder on the bedroom board gives the typewriter code R34qws18.
  8. Excavation tomb: Drop the lamp into the dig hole for an axe, then use the axe, mace and sword on the tomb gate. Grab five rubies, fit the crown and charm, and ride the wooden lift.
  9. Secret passage: Edith's office key opens the hatch under the airship bench. Brush the red canister for padlock code 2947. Back in Edith's office, match the eagle figure to the painting. The red notebook then gives the apartment door code, 14253.
  10. The apartment: Three spiders open the floor hatch puzzle box. Light the lamps in order 1, 4, 3, 1, 2, 4, 3, line up the moon phases, and make every number row add to 15. The last door answers the Noel question, and it is not a cheerful answer.

Chapter 3 Victim Walkthrough: Who Is Behind the Threatening Letter?

The final case gets personal. Someone close to Woodbrey is taken, and a coded letter points him to a village where a girl named Summer has gone missing.

⚠️ Important: Chapter 3 steps reveal late story locations. Mobile updates can also reshuffle some puzzle layouts, so if a grid looks different, the logic stays the same even when the tiles move.

  1. Reveal the letter: In your apartment, use the music book hint on the box. Put the club, diamond and spade on the suitcase for a handle and iodine. Combine the letter, decanter, iodine and brush to expose the hidden text.
  2. Cross the bridge: Find four fleur de lis: at the temple door, the water tank, the bridge tool table and in the green jacket in the cafeteria. Place them on the bridge door and solve the lock.
  3. Apples, bees and the boat: Collect three golden apples. Cut the swing rope and use it on the mill for the barn key. Suit up as a beekeeper with a lit smoker, take the honeycomb and press it into wax. The apples open the shed (oar), and wax plus oar patch the boat to the cemetery.
  4. Kitchen errands: Fetch the cook's grocery list from storage to earn a bone for the school dog. Three wheat ears open the storage chest (oil can and wrench). The wrench opens the barn's red box for the school key.
  5. School clues: Use the letter A board on the student desk and the moon on the globe, then solve the teacher's drawer panel. Three bees open the barn chest for the beekeeper's house key. Three stars on the ballerina box give you Summer's diary.
  6. Cemetery and temple: Dig the right grave and set both lion heads. Flush the village drain with a bucket of water for the bas relief, which earns a magnifying glass for the stone hint. Use that hint on the temple rug puzzle.
  7. The Head's secrets: Two bull heads open the library doors. Two horns on the Head's wall and three small keys on his chest give you a skull.
  8. Final rescue: Set the skull on the temple pedestal and copy the graphite sketch. Light the basement, fit the gear and grip into the lift, and cut the ropes. The twist at the end hints that Woodbrey's story is far from over.

How Many Collectibles and Morphing Objects Are There?

Completionists, here's the full count. The totals land on a neat 48 morphing objects and 48 collection items.

Chapter Morphing Objects Collection Sets
1: Faithfulness 15 7 Glass Balls, 8 Stamps
2: Curse 18 9 Hourglasses, 9 Perfumes
3: Victim 15 8 Wooden Horses, 7 Straw Hats
Total 48 48

Some spots people miss most:

  • The Chapter 1 morphing object on the police station roof.
  • The Chapter 1 stamp hiding beside the café's hot water stand, which only appears once the stand is opened.
  • The Chapter 3 wooden horse tucked between the cemetery tree roots.
My own rule: sweep each new scene once for morphing objects before touching a single puzzle. Otherwise you end up backtracking through every room.

📊 Key Stat: A complete playthrough runs about three and a half hours. Chapter 1 alone eats roughly 85 minutes, about 40% of the total, so don't panic if the first case feels endless. Chapter 3 is the shortest, at under an hour.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many chapters are in Mystery Detective Adventure 2?

There are three chapters. Faithfulness follows a missing daughter in a snowy seaside town, Curse investigates a vanished artifact collector, and Victim turns personal with a kidnapping tied to a village temple. Each chapter has its own locations, evidence files, morphing objects and two collection sets to complete.

Is Mystery Detective Adventure 2 free to play?

On Android and iOS, the game launched as a free to play download in June 2026. On PC, it sells on Steam as a Collector's Edition for $9.99. A free Steam demo lets you try the opening scenes before paying for the full three chapter investigation.

How long does it take to beat Mystery Detective Adventure 2?

A complete run with every puzzle solved takes roughly three and a half hours. Chapter 1 is the longest at around 85 minutes, Chapter 2 takes a little over an hour, and Chapter 3 wraps up in under an hour. Hunting every collectible adds extra time on top.

How many morphing objects are in Mystery Detective Adventure 2?

There are 48 morphing objects in total: 15 in Faithfulness, 18 in Curse and 15 in Victim. They change shape while you look at a scene, so tap them the moment you notice movement. The game also hides 48 collection items across six themed sets.

Do I need to play the first Mystery Detective Adventure first?

No. Each case stands on its own, and the sequel explains enough about Detective Woodbrey's failed last case to follow along. Playing the 2024 original adds context for his occult reputation, and the puzzle style is nearly identical, so it works as practice.

What is the safe code in Mystery Detective Adventure 2 Chapter 2?

The artifacts room safe opens with 27295 once you attach the stethoscope. The main office safe uses the map hint UBLIMP, and the bedroom typewriter takes R34qws18. The secret passage padlock is 2947, and the Green Park Square apartment door is 14253.

Is Mystery Detective Adventure 2 Worth Finishing?

Yes, if you like your mysteries gloomy and your inventory overflowing with suspiciously specific keys. Faithfulness is the slow burner, Curse has the best puzzles (that mansion safe chain is delightful), and Victim lands an ending that sets up a third game. Keep the code table above open in a second tab, sweep each scene for morphing objects first, and treat every random wall doodle as a future answer. Want the PC version with achievements? The Steam Collector's Edition has a demo you can try right now.
