Rocket League patch notes v2.79 fit in two bullet points: two bug fixes, no gameplay changes, no new modes. Both fixes touch One Piece cosmetics players are chasing right now. Here is what changed, why it matters this week, and what to grab before the Straw Hats sail off on November 23.
⚡ Quick Answer
Rocket League patch notes v2.79 went live on November 5, 2026 at 4 PM PT. It contains two bug fixes: the Mercedes-AMG G 63 "G-Wagon" grille and emblem now show black instead of silver, and the Straw Hat Crew Boost and One Piece Player Banner show the correct bounty amount.
What Is in Rocket League Patch Notes v2.79?
The release is tiny. It was scheduled for November 5, 2026 at 4 PM PT (November 6 at 12 AM UTC), and the notes contain only a Bug Fixes section.
Fix 1: The G-Wagon Grille and Emblem
The grille and emblem on the Mercedes-AMG G 63 "G-Wagon" appeared silver instead of black. Trivial? Cosmetics are the whole point of a licensed car, and nobody wants a luxury SUV wearing the wrong chrome.
Fix 2: The Wrong Bounty Amount
The Straw Hat Crew Boost and One Piece Player Banner displayed the wrong bounty amount. Bounties matter in One Piece, so a wrong number on Luffy's gear is like engraving the wrong score on a trophy.
Why Does the G-Wagon Fix Matter Before November 7?
The G-Wagon hits the Item Shop with One Piece decals on November 7. It uses the Merc hitbox, so it plays like a boxy brick that looks expensive. Fixing the trim now means no day-one apology.
"…arrives in the Item Shop with One Piece Decals on November 7."
What Does the One Piece Event Include?
The event runs 22 days, from 9 AM PT on November 1 to 9 AM PT on November 23, inside Season 24. Free rewards come from Challenges:
- Luffy's Straw Hat Topper: score a hat trick in an Online Match
- Straw Hat Crew Boost: complete Challenges involving Centers and Clears
- Going Merry Sea Trail: earn points in Online Matches
- One Piece Antenna and two Player Banners: complete event Challenges
- Five Treasure Chests: play Online Matches
The Item Shop adds Luffy and Going Merry decals for the Octane and Fennec, wheels, and the High Tides goal explosion.
📊 Key Stat: You get five free Treasure Chests just for playing Online Matches during the 22-day window.
💡 Pro Tip: The topper needs three goals in one Online Match, so push forward and hunt rebounds instead of playing goalie.
What Did I Notice About a Patch This Small?
I read patch notes the way some people read terms and conditions: fast and suspicious. When v2.79 showed up with two lines, I assumed I'd missed a section. I hadn't. Both fixes are cosmetic, both are One Piece, and both landed mid-event. My read: a licensed-collab patch is brand protection as much as bug fixing.
